Numbers

At some point I mentioned I would like to see if I could run 1000 miles during the year which of course becomes very difficult if you don’t run.

I know that I am behind on that goal but I thought I would run the numbers to see what it takes.

1000/52 = 19.25 roughly so you need to average 19.25 miles a week to get 1000 miles

So far I have a total of 218 miles after 17 weeks which is a huge average of 12.8 miles per week.  I have only run 19 miles in a week 3 times this year.

Yep I am not what they call “Well on my Way”

It does amaze me that I have raced 9 times this year already and have run some good times with hardly any miles but I think the answer is right there in front of me. If you want to get better stop racing so much.

Back to the point.  There are now 35 weeks left in the year and I need 782 miles to make the goal which is about 22 1/3 miles per week for the rest of the year.  So If I could get 7 miles 3 times a week with a couple longer runs here and there to make up the difference I have no worries.  I just can’t miss any weeks which is laughable.

Oh well just an update on my progress

I too had that 1,000 mile goal, but it seems so far off. We're pretty much in the same position - at the end of April I was just shy of 200 miles and now I'm at 222.6 A friend of mine suggested starting the count on my birthday, which sounds like a good idea.
