Yesterday was a pretty good day for running. I stepped it up to run the course I run more than any other – The Greenway. It is 6.5 miles. I guess.
Who really knows how far it is. I have heard some people claim it is 8 miles and just laughed to myself. Realistically it could just be a hard 6. I don’t care how far it is I just know how long it takes to run when I am out of shape is 56 minutes and when I am flying it takes 48 minutes.
The thing is that yesterday I started in the middle instead of my usual starting point giving myself a way to stop half way if things did not feel good. I have no idea how much this effects the time but I suppose it could a little. The way I normally run it you run the hardest hills at the end. But the way I ran yesterday the last mile is down hill. My time was 50 high, almost 51. So a really good time all things considered. I was suffering on the hills somewhat but not too badly. I would have expected a 53 yesterday.
I wore the ugly socks again which is really a weird dilemma because if you run in them and you are pain free you could think either that you don’t need them anymore or that you should wear them forever because things are working. At this point I have been suffering with this calf trouble for 3 months so I will wear the embarrassing socks.
It has been so long since I could just go run as far as I felt like it or when I felt like it that it really does feel good to just get out and run for once. Lately I have been having to run 30 minutes or less every run so I do like getting back to the normal routine. Fortunately with the cycling my fitness is pretty good so I don’t have that to worry about that aspect.
I just find a 6 to 8 mile run to be the best distance for me in the afternoon and prefer to run that distance.
Over and out
